In Abu Dis, We Play and the Wall Watches

(First photo) Yousef Abu Halal and the neighborhood kids play in front of their Abu Dis homes that are sealed off from Jerusalem by way of the Wall. (Second photo) Yousef, now 22 years old, has lived behind the Wall since he was 3 years old, when construction began. Once an area where the hills of Jerusalem and the golden dome of Al-Aqsa Mosque could be seen daily, now children grow up with the concrete Wall in front of their homes, isolating them from beloved friends and family on the other side.
